Rath Lenor
Classification: Humanoid
Gender: Male
Species: Human/Ferengi
Affiliation: United Federation Of Planets
Family
Father: Evan Lenor, Human Archeologist/Geologist
Mother: Atlen Lenor, Order of Ferengi Galactic Accountants
Personality
Disarming, introverted, insightful, and intelligent. Overly aware of the stigma that follows his mother’s race around, Rath desires to almost single-handedly prove that profit can be made without the subterfuge that often accompanies Ferengi exhanges. Anyone who spends more than 30 minutes with him immediately notes the uncharacteristically intelligent wisdom not often found with Ferengis. Although naturally adept at trade and supply issues, the flair for adventure and exploration peaks through his everyday activities. Bristly when dealing with other Ferengis, hating all the disparaging rhetoric that accompanies the Rules of Acquisition.
The one personality note in his Star Fleet file is that although he abhors the thought of trade (because of the known stigma attached to his people and trade), his raw, natural, talant, personality, and demeanor have earned him quiet distinction at negotiating the fairest (and often best) prices for procuring items both for Star Fleet as well as for the dealer he’s working with.
Appearance
Although a young adult by both Human and Ferengi years, Rath Lenor belies his true intelligence and wisdom behind the uncustomary blue eyes that occur in only one out of 100,000 Ferengi births. Taller than most Ferengi, at nearly 1.6 meters tall, he is imposing by Ferengi standards. He has taken on most of the physical features of his mother's Ferengi race, however, his size and his eyes show his human ancestry as well. His physical bearing has matched his height as he took advantage of the physical programs offered at Star Fleet Academy.
Biography
The Early Years
Rath Lenor had the fortune (or misfortune) of being born into a family that existed outside the conventional Ferengi social institute. His mother, Atlen Lenor (a Ferengi), showed an extremely keen ability for numbers, bordering nearly on savantness. Due to this, she was allowed to wear clothes and pulled into the the secretive Order of Ferengi Accountants that oversaw not only the finances of the galactic accounts held by all of Ferenginar, but controlled the hold and release of gold-pressed latinum for Ferenginar and systems under their purvue. Because of her talents, she was absent for much of his life after age 12. It is believed that Rath obtained his talent with trade and numbers from his mother, but his father moved him far away so he wouldn’t also be taken by the Ferengi government as well. With his mother spirited away to work for the Ferengi government, Rath’s father – a human, Evan Lenor – took his son with him to a distance planet that was being excavated for signs of relics and possible ores that may be of value. It was here that Rath met Sai Dan Dathrohan, another Ferengi youth who was living on the planet. This relationship with Sai Dan was to lay the foundation for a future for their very survival.
After nearly six years on the planet, both Rath and Sai Dan Dathrohan were sent out on an errand to appropriate supplies and parts for the work done on the planet. Unknown to the archeological team working on the Elsilar 3, the Elsilar system was on the extreme distant end of a black hole event horizon – a black hole that was in the process of collapse. While Rath and Sai Dan were away for the four months gathering supplies, the Elsilar system collided with the Gravnor system, the suns of each being forced into an orbit of each other by the collapse of the black hole. Upon returning to the system, the Ferengi youths found the Elsilar system near totally destroyed, asteroid fields created from previous planets that collided between the Elsilar and Gravnor systems. The ship they were on took heavy damage, and they almost didn’t make it back to the planet. When they arrived, however, they discovered that all the inhabitants had been killed by the forces of events caused by the collapse of the black hole.
The ship was too heavily damaged to leave right away, and it took nearly three years for Rath and Sai Dan to find parts, refine ores and petroleums, and repair their ship to even leave their planet. Intial trips were only to nearby planets that could supply parts, food, and supplies needed for a long trip. It was on these trips that Rath developed and honed his skills for gathering supplies and learning effective trade techniques. The most helpful during their gathering was a small Star Fleet outpost that had been sent just lightyears away to monitor the collapse of the black hole. This relationship with Star Fleet had far reaching results, and the youths eventually loaded up their battered ship and headed for Earth, and Star Fleet Academy entrance examinations.
Starfleet Academy
After being accepted into Star Fleet, something he almost immediately regretted, Rath found himself at odds with every Ferengi there, save one. The younger Ferengi (and trusted friend) Sai Dan saved him on more than one occasion from being expelled for pounding Ferengis he caught cheating other cadets (in any fashion).
Academically, Rath had no problem passing the core classes, and as much as he tried to avoid it, his skills at negotiating for either procurement or locations of resources (as valued a skill as trade itself), gained notoriety outside the class, and even the academy. Many seasoned officers in the trade and supply lines of Star Fleet were asking for him as a crewman, regardless of rhe risk that is his antipathy of Ferengi.
First Assignment
Graduating so low in his class, Rath was assigned to the Y-Class cargo ship USS Prosperous. This assignment, knowingly or unknowingly to him, was actually a well thought out assignment by the admirals at Starfleet Assignments as it pairs his need to satiate exploration while using his noticeable skills at procurement. His motivation and analytical, methodical skills at finding required resources have already put the Prosperous high on the level of supply vessels at Star Fleet.
Hobbies/Pastimes Rath spends most of his current time on learning all the ropes of his new assignment on the USS Prosperous. When he does take time out for himself, though, he likes to do the archaeic earth tradition of reconstituting a picture that is purposely dismantled into hundreds or thousands of pieces – a thing called a “jigsaw puzzle.”
Political Ideology
Having grown up mostly on a planet where whatever survival techniques were needed were accepted, he has learned not only to “buy in” to Starfleet protocols, but to lean on the discipline as it further separates him from what he considers the oppressive and chaotic society if his people.
Special Notes
Occupation Trade/Supply Officer: Assigned to the USS Prosperous, Rath both loves and loathes the assignment. Where he looks forward to completing his assignment and setting new standards of excellence in trade and supply, he dreads knowing that many of his dealings will bring him in contact with other Ferengis.
Side Trait He always strives for self improvement, over the course of his life he has learned to speak several languages such as Klingon, Cardassian, Bajoran, Romulan and even Ferengi. He continues to study in new fields.
Awards/Commendations
