James Tahachee Skywalker is a Starfleet officer currently assigned to the 12th Fleet, stationed at Starbase Valhalla and assigned as senior diplomatic officer of the U.S.S. Oberon. James Skywalker currently holds the rank of Lieutenant.
Background
Born to Federation Councillor Swift Dove Skywalker and holonovel actress Sarah Fairchild on Stardate 62702 (Old Earth calendar 2385), James Tahachee Skywalker was named in honor of two important figures: Captain [James Tiberius Kirk], whose starship [U.S.S. Enterprise] had ended an affliction that threatened to destroy the Denevan colony more than a century earlier, and ancient Cherkoee writer and actor [Tahachee] from Earth's 20th century, along whose lineage Councillor Skywalker could trace his family tree.
James was raised on Deneva, and through his parents' connections would be introduced to important figures in the Federation, inclduing Fleet Admiral [Leonard Akaar], Federation Ambassador [Jean-Luc Picard], and Federation President [Nan Bacco]. James attended Admiral Paris Memorial Academy, excelling in history and design before being accepted to Starfleet Academy's freshman class of 2403. Despite being the son of a Federation councillor, James entered the Academy on his own merits, receiving the Federation Junior Advocates Scholarship and the Denevan Academic Excellence Award for Engineering and Design.
Starfleet Career
Cadet Skywalker enlisted in Starfleet Academy and favored a command focus, studying legal affairs and intergovernmental relations. His primary focus was on General Order Interpretations, especially Prime Directive and First Contact cases. Law and diplomacy would be a focus of Skywalker's career, as his Third Year saw him assigned to Starbase 227 near Beta Alonis where he served as support staff to the base's Judge Advocate officer. Lt. Commander Rab'enzi recommended Cadet Skywalker for a meritorious service award for his efforts in first contact negotiations with a previously unknown early-warp civilization in the Alonis Sector following a shuttle mishap en route to court martial proceedings at Starbase 221. Cadet Skywalker graduated from Starfleet Academy on Stardate 84555.1 (May 2407) with honors in Law and Diplomatic Affairs, and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant (junior grade) and assigned to the U.S.S. Oberon. During his time at the Academy, Skywalker had received the Calhoun Meritorious Service Award, the Judge Advocate Cross, and commendations from Lt. Commander Rab'enzi, Starbase 227 commanding officer [Harry Kim], and Starfleet Judge Advocate General Mack Simmons. He also held distinction as being the youngest cadet to earn highest marks in the Academy Fencing Championships.
Lt. (j.g.) Skywalker's assignment to the Oberon came at the midpoint of their extended 14-year exploration mission of the Delta Quadrant which had begun in 2400 at the behest of the Federarion Ambassador [Neelix] and the Alliance of Free Worlds, a coalition of planets organized following the [Starship Voyager]'s passage through the region thirty years earlier. As assistant diplomatic officer, Lt. (j.g.) Skywalker served as second-chair in trade and treaty negotiations with numerous Delta Quadrant civilizations, and advised senior diplomatic officer Lieutenant Commander Robert Turner on matters of Federation and Starfleet legal precedence. On Commander Turner's and Captain DeSoto's behalf, Lt. (j.g.) Skywalker initiated first contact with three previously unknown warp civilizations, and successfully negotiated the release of the Oberon's executive officer and chief medical officer from a band of Malon terrorists. For his actions, Skywalker was promoted to full lieutenant.
Just before the Oberon's reassignment, Commander Turner and three officers were killed while on shore leave at Nostoria, a new member of the Alliance of Free Worlds. Following the apprehension and prosecution of the alleged murderers, Lt. Skywalker was promoted to the post of Senior Diplomatic Officer.
Twelfth Fleet
The Oberon was reassigned to the Twelfth Fleet in 2409 when Starfleet recalled all active-duty vessels to the Alpha and Beta Quadrants following top-level political breakdowns between major Alpha Quadrant powers. The Oberon was assigned to the newly constructed Starbase Valhalla, and Lt. Skywalker currently serves as Fleet Diplomatic Liaison.
